VU Pride is a group of students, faculty, and staff working together to foster an acceptance and awareness of sexual orientation and gender on campus. In Villanova's Augustinian understanding of Catholicism, we are dedicated to loving and respecting other humans without prejudice or malice. This tenet to love one another was upheld by Jesus, and despite religious association, spirituality, and faith, we believe this message of love can help us shape a future of acceptance and equality on campus and beyond.
Homophobia and fear are best overcome through the caring collaboration of all campus communities— LGBTQ+, allies, and all Villanovans. Our organization is open to any student willing to help us achieve this goal.
VU Pride offers numerous programming opportunities to raise awareness and to engage the community in meaningful conversations regarding sexual orientation and gender identity, including an LGBTQ+ Awareness Week each fall, and a Pride Week each spring. During the rest of each semester, VU Pride hosts a number of educational and social meetings. Please consider becoming part of VU Pride. All are welcome.
The It Gets Better Project's mission is to communicate to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them.
Help VU PRIDE in its campaign to eliminate homophobia from our campus and create a welcoming community for all students. To join us, contact Kathy Byrnes by phone 610.519.4550 or email.
