NACUFS Mid-Atlantic Region announces Nancy W. Carrier Scholarship Winners
Congratulations this year's recipients of the Nancy W. Carrier $1,000 Scholarship; Gina Mancelli and Briana Elson from Villanova University. A total of twenty-nine eligible and amazing applicants this year made it a difficult task to narrow it down to only two winners. All are to be saluted for their hard work and accomplishment.
Nancy W. Carrier passed away in 2002 after a battle with cancer. She was employed by James Madison University from 1981 until she passed. During that time she worked her way up from Assistant Manager of the Dining Hall to General Manager of Dining Services. Throughout her career she touched many individuals at the University as well as NACUFS. While employed at James Madison University she became a very active member of NACUFS Region II (now the Mid-Atlantic Region) where she contributed to all with her sense of humor, dedication, and hard work. Nancy was elected Treasurer of the Region in 1992 and served for two terms in that position. In November 1995 she was elected President and assumed that position in July 1996 until 1998. Nancy then served as Past President for an additional two years. She also served on the 1999 National Conference committee and was always there when you needed her to do anything extra. Naming this scholarship in her honor is a true recognition of who Nancy W. Carrier was – a person who did much for many and this just continues that tradition.
