Game One: Menslaughter vs. Beackett & the Beast

Beackett & the Beast raced out to a 17-6 lead behind stifling defense and solid three-point shooting. Team Menslaughter cut the deficit to 7 midway through the first half but B&B tightened up their 2-3 zone and caused several Menslaughter turnovers. B&B capitalized on the fast break and pounded the ball inside and by halftime, Beackett & the Beast had a 32-14 lead. In the second half, the turnovers continued to pile up for Menslaughter and Beackett & the Beast was in complete control. Beackett & the Beast kept their foot on the gas pedal in the second half and the game ended by a slaughter score of 54-24.

Game Two: Redeem Team vs. Goon Squad

The Redeem Team was made up of the Villanova Football team and they came out playing fast and physical. Redeem Team used their toughness and athleticism to jump out to a 22-7 lead.  Goon Squad was able to settle into the game by hitting some outside shots but Redeem Team had an answer to every Goon Squad run in the first half. At the half Redeem Team held a comfortable 32-18 lead.  Redeem team picked up where they left off to start the second half and the lead ballooned to 27. Goon Squad continued to play hard and made a dent in Redeem Team’s lead. Goon Squad managed to cut the deficit to 10 points, but there wasn’t enough time left for Goon Squad to close the gap. Redeem Team won by a final score of 61-51 with Villanova wide receiver Poppy Livers leading the way for Redeem Team.

Game Three: Overrated vs. Nova by Six

Overrated opened the game with a series of backdoor cuts which led to layups and built a commanding 11-2 lead. Nova by Six responded by tightening up their man to man defense forcing Overrated to start shooting contested three pointers. On the offensive end, Nova by Six took advantage of their superior size and dominated the interior. Overrated held just a 26-23 lead at the half. Nova by Six opened the second half with a quick 5-0 run to take the lead and then the game went back and forth with both teams exchanging leads. After Overrated created multiple turnovers, they were able to stretch the lead out to 7 but Nova by Six responded with a 9-0 run of their own to retake the lead with five minutes to play. Overrated was clinging to a one point lead with two minutes to go. After failing to score late in the game, Nova by Six was forced to foul and Overrated calmly sank their free throws to close out a 55-50 victory.

Game Four: Purple Cobras vs. The VARPS

The Purple Cobras were another team made up of Villanova Football players but the VARPS were up to the challenge as the VARPS took it to the Purple Cobras and opened up an 18-9 lead by capitalizing on the fast break and dominating the boards. The VARPS stretched the lead to 12 but the Purple Cobras got the game back into single digits and trailed by 9 at halftime. The VARPS added to their lead in the second half by taking advantage of the Purple Cobras’ sloppy play. The Purple Cobras struggled offensively throughout the game as a result of their lackadaisical passing and questionable shot selection. The VARPS stretched the lead to 17 early in the second half and it was garbage time from that point on. The VARPS defeated the Purple Cobras by a score of 53-34.
