Director's Welcome

Thank you for visiting the Villanova University Department of Public Safety website. Whether you are just now considering attending Villanova or are a current student or employee, I would encourage you to explore the resources and information available on our homepage.

We strive to make Villanova University a safe place to live, learn and work. Campus safety is a partnership between the University and the individuals who make up our community. Public Safety’s role is to keep the campus safe by remaining vigilant with respect to the physical security of campus property, proactive patrol, investigation of reported incidents, and community education on campus safety issues. The Public Safety Department also plays a leading role in emergency management planning for the University by developing plans, conducting drills, and coordinating with responding police, fire and EMS agencies.

As members of the community, I would encourage you to take an active role in your own safety by making responsible choices about issues that affect your personal safety as well as the safety of others in the community. The “little things” like locking your door, not leaving valuables unattended, and making responsible decisions about using alcohol and other drugs, all have a tremendous impact on your safety. Reporting crime and other suspicious activity to Public Safety or someone in authority also helps us do our job in keeping the community safe.

While no campus is immune from crime, Villanova has always prided itself in having an outstanding record for safety. Beyond the basics of securing the campus, the staff here at Public Safety works to live up to the Augustinian values of freedom, respect for the individual, diversity, and inclusiveness. Members of the Department aim to not only provide a safety environment, but do so with courtesy, respect, and a genuine spirit of helpfulness and service.
