Five more of our personnel attended Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 training through APCO (The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials).
APCO describes the benefit of the 40 hour course by stating, "The position of public safety telecommunicator involves more than answering the telephone, getting a location and sending response units to calls for service. Public safety communications has evolved into a specialized and professional field of endeavor requiring the application of knowledge, attributes and skills not commonly found in other occupations."
The five members of VUDPS that successfully completed the course and are now APCO certified are:
