Fall 2017 Writing-Intensive Proposal Workshop

Submission Deadline: August 11, 2017
An intensive, hands-on proposal writing workshop for faculty members at any career stage and from any discipline to develop a compelling, competitive proposal that is ready to submit to an external sponsor at the conclusion of the semester-long workshop. 


Undergraduate Research Day: September 8

The Center for Research and Fellowships, in partnership with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering, will host the 2017 Villanova University Undergraduate Research Poster Session on Friday, September 8 from 1-4 pm in the Villanova Room of the Connelly Center.

University Conference Travel Grant

Deadline: October 6
University Conference Travel Grants are available to tenure-track, tenured, or full-time continuing non-tenure-track faculty to present work at national or international meetings, exhibitions, festivals, or other venues appropriate for a given discipline. Outstanding Faculty Research Award

Nominations Due: November 3
The Outstanding Faculty Research Award is presented to a member of the faculty who demonstrates the highest standards of excellence in their research, scholarship, and contributions to their field. Any full-time faculty member may submit a nomination of a colleague at the rank of Full Professor with at least 10 years of service to Villanova.


Mendel Medal Award Lecture: November 17

The 2017 Mendel Medal recipient is Olufunmilayo I. Olopade, MD, FACP, OON, an internationally renowned pioneer in cancer genetics and the Walter L. Palmer Distinguished Service Professor of Medicine and Human Genetics and Director of the Center for Clinical Cancer Genetics at The University of Chicago. A public lecture will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 in the Villanova Room.

University Summer Grant Proposal

Deadline: December 1
The University Summer Grant (USG) Program provides support to faculty to be engaged in research, scholarly activities, and creative artistic projects. Overarching goals of the USG program are to foster the intellectual development of faculty and to facilitate faculty efforts to achieve national and international recognition in their scholarly field. Proposals are due Friday, December 1, 2017.


Spring 2018 Proposal Writing Workshop

Deadline: December 21
During this intensive, hands-on proposal writing workshop, participating faculty members at any career stage and from any discipline will draft a complete research proposal, then have that draft thoroughly vetted and edited by both their peers in the workshop and by a proposal development specialist. The goal is for participants to develop a compelling, competitive proposal that is ready to submit to an external sponsor at the conclusion of the semester-long workshop. Space is limited.
