Villanova Initiative for Engaging Women

Our mission is to prepare Philadelphia public high school girls for admission into college and to provide the skills needed to succeed in thier upper level education. Our VIEW students participate in a program of intense academic achievement in English, Global Citizenship, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Business and Visual Literacy. The program is enhanced with advanced computer and informational skills  along with a continuing exposure of cultural enrichment.

  • SAT Prep Classes for Sophomores and Juniors
  • Monthly Lunch and Learns,
  • Freshman Meet and Greet, Sophomore Leadership Workshops, Junior Personal and Professional Development Workshops

VIEW offers a one week program at Villanova University's campus during the summer where the VIEW members are invited to experience "College 101". During this time, they will:

  • Follow a college-like schedule
  • Participate in academic classes to enhance knowledge and skill
  • Engage in activities that cultivate their minds
  • Visit museums and professional performances
  • Serve within the community

Along with the school year program,  these two components support achievement while also familiarizing students with the demands of college. Small classes of no larger than 20, and a counselor ratio of 6 students to 1, provide the support necessary for individual attention.

The mentoring program connects students to VIEW on a daily basis throughout the school year.  VIEW students and staff know the slogan the best: You will not get lost at VIEW.

The books pictured below are VIEW's current Summer Reading List for each class. Juniors have two books for summer reading.
