The Villanova Story

August 22, 2011

Dear Faculty and Staff:

As I shared in my August message, we have had a busy summer and are looking toward an
exciting fall. The Strategic Plan is coming to life across campus through your commitment and hard work.

One effort we have all been involved in is the University’s initiative to clarify and better communicate Villanova’s distinctive identity. With the fresh start that a new academic year brings us, it is a perfect time to share the results of this highly collaborative and research-based process, and to empower you all to tell our story.

Here are three resources that can help you powerfully and consistently tell the Villanova Story:

This guide focuses on describing what is at the heart of the Villanova experience and what sets us apart from other universities. We all know there is a special feeling at Villanova, but it can be hard to explain. The language in this guide will help us describe that feeling to those outside of our community.

Villanova University Brand Guidelines
As part of our effort to better communicate Villanova’s identity, the University’s crest has been refined to create a clearer, stronger mark. Guidelines for the appropriate uses of all University marks can be found on the University Communication website.

IgniteChangeGoNova.com
This website, which goes live Wednesday, August 24, celebrates the people and programs that prove that Villanova is a place that attracts and forges world changers. The site also enables you to submit your own stories, and I hope you will.

In addition, you will notice a redesigned Villanova homepage, new banners throughout campus, and new letterhead and business cards. To celebrate the completion of this work and the beginning of classes, please join me at a Welcome Back BBQ with food and giveaways on Wednesday, August 24 at 12 p.m. in the Sullivan/Sheehan quad.

I thank you all for your participation and support of this University initiative, which will serve to strengthen the awareness and understanding of Villanova nationally. It is my hope that the resources shared in this message will inspire you to tell our Villanova story far and wide.

The story is in our hands—let’s share it.
