Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

I am pleased to announce that Ryan Rost ‘96 CLAS, ‘98 MS, the current Assistant Dean of Students, has been named as Villanova’s Title IX Coordinator. Ryan will report to Leyda Benitez, University Compliance Officer.

Ryan was an undergraduate and graduate student at Villanova and worked in the Athletics Department for several years before assuming her current role as Assistant Dean of Students, a position she has held since 2003. As Assistant Dean, Ryan has established policies, procedures and trainings that are consistent with federal and state guidelines and Villanova’s mission, and has been an integral part of Villanova’s Title IX compliance programs. She also helped lead strategic planning and assessment efforts for the Office of the Dean of Students and has developed positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders working on numerous University initiatives, including those related to Title IX.

As the University’s first full-time Title IX Coordinator, Ryan will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the University's Title IX compliance efforts to foster an environment that is free from sexual discrimination and harassment. She will work closely and collaboratively with the Title IX Deputy Coordinators, General Counsel and other colleagues and constituents across the University to ensure compliance and consistency in instances of sexual misconduct and work diligently to educate the entire Villanova community regarding Title IX requirements.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Ellen Krutz, who has served as Villanova’s Title IX Coordinator while managing significant responsibilities as Associate Vice President for Human Resources, and the Deputy Title IX Coordinators—Kathy Byrnes, Elisa Lopez and Lynn Tighe. Their leadership, knowledge and counsel have been invaluable during the past three years and I am incredibly grateful.

Ryan will transition from the Office of the Dean of Students to her new role by mid-semester. Please join me in congratulating Ryan on her new role at Villanova.

Sincerely,
