Each fall, the Villanova community begins the academic year with a celebration honoring St. Thomas of Villanova, the 16th-century Augustinian bishop of Valencia, Spain, and patron of the University. This tradition will continue in September 2013 with four days of special events.

Description: Items needed by local community agencies will be collected.

8:30 a.m. Day of Service Send Off
Location: The Pavilion
9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Day of Service
Location: Nearly 200 service sites throughout Greater Philadelphia
Description: Students, faculty, staff, alumni and families will partner with community agencies to perform service in neighborhoods throughout the region. Villanovans outside of Greater Philadelphia are encouraged to participate in the Day of Service by identifying opportunities closer to home. 3:30 - 6 p.m. Day of Service Community Dinner and Presentation of the Staff Distinguished Service Awards
Location: Dougherty Hall Dining Room
Description: At the conclusion of the Day of Service, participants are invited to share food and fellowship at the Community Dinner. During this time, the Distinguished Service Awards will be presented to recognize staff members for consistent excellence, exceptional performance and service to the University community.
