Transportation Options for Students

Villanova University provides a shuttle service and students are encouraged to utilize the on campus shuttle service to access locations throughout the Villanova Campus. When there is a need to travel off campus, several options are available depending on the destination and time that you plan to travel off campus.

The public transportation service for Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs including Villanova University is SEPTA (South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority). There are two SEPTA train stations on-campus: the R5 Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail located between the Mendel Parking Lot and the Springmill Garage, as well as the R100 train/Norristown High Speed line, with platforms at both the East and West Main Lots. The R100/Norristown High Speed Line has a stop right next to Home Properties of Bryn Mawr, a popular off-campus student housing complex. SEPTA trains travel to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, which is located in the center of Philadelphia and serves as a major hub, providing train, trolley and bus service throughout the area, including the Philadelphia International Airport. The 30th Street Station is also a direct access point for AMTRAK.

Two SEPTA bus routes also operate along Lancaster Avenue, providing service into Bryn Mawr as well as Wayne. Check www.SEPTA.org for current train and bus schedules and fares.

In addition to the public transportation service, several businesses located in the close proximity to Villanova University offer delivery service, including the Rosemont Pharmacy, which does not charge a fee for delivery. Villanova students can therefore leverage a wide array of public transportation resources from campus property. In addition, several local taxi companies also provide service to the campus.  There is also a ZipCar rental service available on campus.

The mobility shuttle travels a limited distance off-campus that varies depending upon the type and frequency of students’ needs, To request the mobility shuttle, students can call the VUDPS Dispatcher at 610-519-5800. The Mobility Shuttle is offered free of charge to students with a University ID. On weekends, two University shuttle services are available for students who wish to travel to the King of Prussia Mall or the businesses along the Main Line between Wayne and Ardmore. These shuttle services are free of charge as well. Further information about these services may be found on the Parking and Transportation website, or by calling the Parking & Transportation Office at 610-519-6992.
