Of all the welcomes you receive to Villanova University, we think this will be the only one that will include a gift! All incoming freshmen will receive this year’s One Book Villanova selection, Acts of Faith by author, Eboo Patel. The goal of the One Book Villanova program is to find a common subject that will unite us in good conversation about a culturally rich topic from which we draw great insight.
When you come to campus to begin your new life as a Wildcat, you will be treated to our award-winning New Student Orientation Program. As a part of that program you will engage in lively conversation with a Villanova faculty member and a group of your peers about the book and the salient issues it raises. Therefore, you are expected to read the book prior to your arrival so that you may participate fully in the first of many intellectual and social opportunities designed to help you make the most of your college experience.
Finally, we are confident that once you read this wonderful story you will also want to hear and meet the author when he comes to campus this Fall as a part of our annual St. Thomas of Villanova Celebration.
Enjoy the book! Welcome to Villanova. And allow us to close with the words of author and humorist, Fran Lebowitz, who said, “Think before you speak. Read before you think.”
