This information relates to transfer of nursing credits.
RN students may earn 44 nursing credits for transfer.* The methods of earning these credits are outlined below.
- Twenty-four (24) nursing credits are transferred for successful completion of an NLNAC accredited program (GPA 2.75 or above) and current RN licensure.
- A nursing validation exam is administered by Villanova nursing faculty at the completion of NUR 3000. It assesses foundational clinical nursing skills. It may be repeated once if necessary and must be passed to earn 20 additional credits in nursing, and to progress in the program. [there is a fee associated with the exam]
- Evidence of successful completion of a physical assessment course taken at a university (a transcript is considered proof) or as part of a continuing education program (certificate required). If you do not have proof of a physical assessment course, you may challenge it (NUR 3005) during NUR 3000.
Earn other credits by exam
Selected liberal education courses may be challenged through the University’s Credit by Examination program for a fee of $50 per credit. RN students may challenge up to 12 credits in liberal education courses in addition to the 44 credits awarded in nursing. Graduate-level courses may not be challenged.
