DNP Admission

Students who are applying to the program should ensure that all requirements and materials are received in order to be reviewed by the admission committee.  Applicants will be notified of acceptance early in the spring semester so that they can plan to attend the on-campus orientation and summer session.  All accepted applicants must submit a $1000.00 non-refundable Hold My Seat fee.

Prerequisites

Applicants to the doctoral program should have a master’s degree in nursing with an overall grade point average of 3.5 or higher, hold current and unrestricted licensure in nursing in a jurisdiction of the United States and hold a current and unrestricted Advanced Practice Nursing License as a Nurse Practitioner, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or a Certified Nurse-Midwife.  Applicants should have taken a college level nursing research course and received a grade of 3.0 or higher.  Applicants must also hold a national certification in their advanced practice specialty.

Transfer of credit

A maximum of six credits of relevant graduate/doctoral level courses taken prior to admission to the DNP program may be transferred into the DNP program.  Students must submit a course syllabus and an official transcript including the course grade.  These documents will be reviewed and a determination made about transferability.

Courses must have been taken within five years of admission to the DNP program.

Students are not permitted to take courses outside Villanova University for credit toward the professional doctoral degree once admitted to the DNP program.
