Education is the cornerstone for lasting change. HHAW members give 5-, 10-, and 20-minute presentations in classrooms before the Week begins. These presentations serve to educate the community about hunger and homelessness, and generate support of the Week's events.
Fair Trade is an initiative that promotes human dignity and fair working conditions. The Fair Trade craft sale is being held in the Connelly Center and is a wonferful opportunity to learn about Fair Trade, buys gifts for friends and family, and support global justice.
The Sleep Out is an event in which Villanova students spend one night outside in an attempt to experience solidarity with the homeless. The event will take place outside the Connelly Center near the Oreo.
HHAW reflections serve to encourage members of the community to reflect upon poverty and to offer prayers to the hungry and homeless.
The Food Drive committee collects canned goods and non-perishable food items on campus and in the surrounding community and donates them to a local food pantry, helping to alleviate hunger in the Philadelphia area. Cans will be collected outside the Sparket and Second Storey!
5K Run with Back On My Feet
Back On My Feet is a Philly-based orgnanization that promotes self-sufficiency of the homeless population through running. Students will run with members of Back On My Feet in support of the organization's initative.
Fast Day with CRS
Villanovans will be asked to donate a meal during lunch hours on Thursday, November 15. Catholic Relief Services will host an alternative event in which students can help package lunches to sent to Burkina Faso.
