Head Coach Logan

Head Coach: Logan Johnson

Entering his fourth year with Villanova Men's Rowing, Logan Johnson has rebuilt the program and placed the Wildcats back on the track to national promenance last seen in the early 2000s.  Under his direction, the team has grown drastically in numbers and in strength.  Continually looking to elevate the standards of the program, Johnson has coached crews that continually seek to build on past performances and experiences.

In the 2011 season, Johnson's Varsity 8 secured its first semifinal appearance in nearly a decade at the Dad Vail Regatta.  In the fall of 2011, the same crew finished 19 of 39 teams at the Head of the Charles Regatta, securing the first automatic entry for the program.

Johnson comes with experience as both an athlete and coach from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.  As an athlete, Logan coxed the Red Foxes to an ECAC National Championship and IRA bid in the Men's Freshmen 8 in 2004.  As a coach, he served as a assistant coach at Marist during the 2006-2008 seasons.  His responsibilities included coxswain development and assisting with the Varsity 8+ and 4+.  The 4+ went on to earn a silver medal at the 2008 IRA Championship.

Brian Kasper

Freshmen Coach: Brian Kasper

Entering his second year at Villanova, Brian has focused on growing the numbers of the team and quality of athletes in his role as Freshmen Coach.  Under his direction, the team has developed a system of attracting competitive and determined athletes to the program.  In that time the roster has doubled.

Results have also followed from both recruiting and training efforts.  In 2011, Brian led the Villanova Frosh 4+ to a silver medal at the Dad Vail Regatta.  This was the programs first medal at the regatta in nearly a decade.

Brian comes to the program from Boston College, where he was a 3 year varsity rower in addition to serving as program president and treasurer.  As an athlete, Brian rowed in the Eagle's Varsity 8+ during the 2009-2010 season.  As president, Brian coordinated coach hiring, recruiting, travel, equipment purchases and general business matters.  As treasurer he coordinated budget, fund raising and expenses

Brian is currently studying law as a member of the Villanova Law class of 2013.

Assistant Coach: Michael Vazquez

Michael began his rowing career at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, OH. In his first year in the sport, he coxed the men's freshman 8 to seventh in the country at the Scholastic National Regatta. Michael played an important role in the team's 5th and 6th straight claim to the overall points Trophy at the Midwest Championships, the same race at which he received a silver medal in Freshman 8 category.

After moving to Orlando, FL in sophomore year, Michael joined the Orlando Area Rowing Society. His career at OARS culminated with a bronze medal at the Southeast Regional Championships in the Varsity 4, a State Championship victory in the Varsity 4, and ultimately the opportunity to cox at the Youth Nationals in Cincinnati, Ohio. Michael received the Most Valuable Coxswain Award both years with the club and the Sportsmanship Award his senior year. As well as coxing for the varsity boat, Michael was the coxswain for the Oars Men and Women Masters Program.

Here at Villanova, Michael is an Assistant Novice Coach and the Team Web Administrator. His freshman year he was one of two Varsity Coxswains. Michael is a Philosophy and Humanities Double Major and Spanish minor with a concentration in Honors (Class of 2014).
