Maryalice Morro, Thomas V. Sanzone, Patricia M. Esposito and Stephen P. Murphy will serve three-year terms representing the Alumni Association
The 21-member board is chaired by VUAA President Robert S. Byrnes
Four Villanova University alumni have been elected to the Villanova University Alumni Association (VUAA) Board of Directors, the governing body that establishes the overall strategic direction of the VUAA. Maryalice Morro, '83 Nursing; Thomas V. Sanzone, ’68 Engineering; Patricia M. Esposito, ’80 A&S; and Stephen P. Murphy, ’85 A&S; will serve three-year terms representing the VUAA within the University community and providing guidance to the Office of Alumni Relations.
“We are thrilled to have such a dedicated and talented group of individuals join the Alumni Association Board,” said Gary R. Olsen, A&S ’74 and ’80, Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations at Villanova University. “These four Villanovans exemplify the extraordinary commitment that our alumni have to supporting their alma mater.”
Maryalice Morro, of Drexel Hill, Pa., is Chief of Staff at Navy Medicine East in Portsmouth, Va. Morro has had assignments at naval clinics and hospitals in the United States and abroad, including Japan, United Kingdom and Spain, and aboard USNS Comfort in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She was the first Nurse Corps officer to serve as commanding officer of Naval Hospital Pensacola.
Thomas V. Sanzone, of Houston, Texas, is the Senior Executive for Engineering at MRI Technologies. During a 43-year-long career at NASA, he trained astronauts, including the famed Apollo 11 team, and eventually held the title of General Manager of the Houston office. Mr. Sanzone received the NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal and Rotary National Award for Space Achievement, in addition to numerous other accolades, for his aeronautical work. He is a lifetime member of Villanova’s Engineering Alumni Society and a member of Villanova’s Houston Alumni Association Chapter.
Patricia M. Esposito, of Morristown, N.J., is a Senior Client Advisor with Marsh USA, Inc. Morristown, New Jersey National Brokerage Department. A long-time Villanova supporter, she is an active member of the Morris Somerset Alumni Association Chapter, the Villanova Parents Committee and has acted as Class Reunion Representative and Giving Chairperson for several major reunions. Her extensive community service includes serving on the board of TeenPride, Inc., an organization that provides counseling services for at-risk teens and assisting with a variety of Villa Walsh Academy clubs and associations.
Stephen P. Murphy, of Summit, N.J., is the Director of Sales and Trading at Collins Stewart LLC. He is the host of the local cable show “Murph and the Mayor,” and also serves as a city councilman. Mr. Murphy, the parent of Villanova sophomore Shannon, is a Villanova Parent Ambassador and the chairperson of the Class of 1985’s 25th Reunion. Very active in the community, he is also the Board President of the local Police Athletic League and is a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks.
The 21-member VUAA Board of Directors is chaired by Robert S. Byrnes, VSB ’76; president of R.S. Byrnes Associates, Inc., a full-service manufacturers’ representative agency specializing in the sale of elastomeric products throughout North America.
