Villanova University Alumni Association Names Robert S. Byrnes as its President

As the volunteer head of Villanova’s alumni association, Byrnes will lead an 18-member alumni board of directors and more than 106,000 alumni worldwide

VILLANOVA, Pa., July 12, 2010 – Villanova University has announced the appointment of Robert S. Byrnes as the president of the University’s Alumni Association (VUAA). A 1976 graduate of the Villanova School of Business, Byrnes served as the president of Villanova’s Carolina Alumni Chapter from 1991-2001 and president of the University’s North Jersey Alumni Chapter from 1976-1986.

As the volunteer head of Villanova’s alumni association, Byrnes will lead an 18-member alumni board of directors and more than 106,000 alumni worldwide. He will serve a two-year term as president of the alumni association.  Byrnes has been a member of the alumni association board of directors since 2004.

A resident of Charlotte, N.C., Byrnes is the President of R.S. Byrnes Associates, Inc., a full service manufacturer’s representative agency specializing in the sale of elastomeric products throughout North America. The agency is headquartered in Charlotte, with a branch office in Manhattan, Kan.

The VUAA will also be welcoming two new board members this year, Laura M. Savino and Tina S. Waters.

Savino, a 1994 graduate of Villanova’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is a communication consultant whose clients include magazine publishers and start-up businesses. A New York City resident, Savino has served as the VUAA Long Island chapter president from 1999-2010.

Waters, a 1989 graduate of the Villanova School of Business, is the Senior Vice President Human Performance--National Customer Operations for Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. Waters lives in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
