Bing Bing Qi, PhD, RN
Assistant Professor
Area of Expertise:
Osteoporosis is a major health problem for both women and men, increasing fractures of the hip, spine and wrist. It can lead to pain, deformity, disability, costly rehabilitation, poor quality of life and even premature death. Often cultural differences can inhibit the practice of preventive behaviors in populations at high risk for osteoporosis. Dr. Bing Bing Qi, who recently completed an important study of the risk of osteoporosis in Chinese immigrants, can discuss her findings and the critical need for innovative and culturally appropriate, community-based intervention programs.
