Memorial Day, observed every year on the last Monday of May, is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering those who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces. Formerly known as Decoration Day, the holiday originated after the American Civil War and typically marks the start of summer. Villanova faculty experts are available to discuss Memorial Day traditions as well as its significance in American history.
