Domestic Violence & Professional Sports

Domestic violence and professional sports has been at the forefront of the news since the release of a video showing Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice punching his then fiancée, and now wife. Despite the recent increased national attention on this issue, 83 NFL players have been arrested since 2000, demonstrating that domestic violence is an ongoing problem. Villanova faculty experts are available to discuss whether or not professional sports are a carbon copy of what's happening throughout society, what can be done to ensure more accountability in professional sports, and whether the violent nature of some sports increases real-world violence amongst athletes.
