Connecting with Classmates from Different Cultures

Mark Alexander, Arthur J. Kania Dean of the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, authored an op-ed for The National Law Journal as part of its Sept. 26 special report, “Law Schools: Tackling Timely Issues of Race and Class.”  

In his essay, entitled “First Year Will Shape You For Decades to Come,” Dean Alexander urges law students to learn from each other, seeking out individuals with differing backgrounds and beliefs from their own. He also implores students to speak with courage and to act with civility for their actions as 1Ls will form the foundation of their reputation for years to come.
