Villanova University School of Law celebrated its 57th Commencement on May 18, 2012. After three years of diligent study and preparation, the academic journey of the class of 2012 culminated with a long-awaited walk across the stage.
City of Philadelphia District Attorney R. Seth Williams delivered the Commencement address and received this year’s Medallion Award. In his remarks, Williams encouraged the graduating students to embrace adversity as opportunities for growth. “It is the struggle that makes us strong,” he repeated throughout his speech.
Bronze Star Medal recipient and former Green Beret James J. (J.J.) Williamson VLS ’12 was the student speaker.
Two hundred forty-one students were awarded J.D. degrees, and thirty-five students were awarded LL.M. degrees. A reception was held at the Law School following the ceremony.
