Villanova University School of Law announces comprehensive partnership with West LegalEdcenter

Expertise of Villanova Law faculty shared with national and international audiences through content partnership

Villanova University School of Law announced a new comprehensive partnership with West LegalEdcenter (WLEc), a Thomson Reuters business. This multifaceted agreement is the first of its kind among U.S. law schools. It encompasses a content partnership that shares the expertise of the Villanova faculty through a national and international platform, access to the Beyond the Bar portal for students, and discounted subscription rates to the WLEc portal for alumni.

“As lawyers and educators, we understand the importance of staying current in an ever-evolving profession,” said John Y. Gotanda, Dean of Villanova University School of Law. “This agreement with West LegalEdcenter enhances Villanova Law’s educational offerings to both our students and alumni and shares the expertise of our faculty with lawyers around the world.”

Villanova University School of Law’s partnership with West LegalEdcenter includes:

  • Content Partnership
Villanova University School of Law becomes a Content Partner as part of this agreement. Villanova’s symposia and hot topic panels will now be made available to national and international audiences through the WLEc portal, expanding the reach of the faculty’s expertise and scholarship. Faculty members will also be featured through specially created 1-hour CLE programs. Villanova is the sixth law school to become a West LegalEdcenter Content Partner, joining Georgetown, Duke, Northwestern, University of Minnesota, and University of Washington. The partnership launches with the broadcast of the Villanova Law Review Norman J. Shachoy Symposium on Sept. 27.

  • Access to Beyond the Bar for students and faculty
Villanova becomes the first law school in the nation to offer students and faculty free access to Beyond the Bar. The Beyond the Bar portal features online programs that help individuals gain the practical skills, knowledge, and tools necessary to successfully transition to practicing law. Through practice tools, tips and guidance, programs introduce key topics within the categories of business skills, legal skills, law practice management and client service and development. Expert speakers with real-world practice experience present these dynamic online programs, which are available 24/7 and can be viewed anywhere with internet access. In addition, Beyond the Bar programming will be integrated into Villanova Law classrooms as a new teaching tool to enrich select course curriculum.

  • Discounted WLEc subscriptions for VLS Alumni
Villanova Law alumni around the world can continue honing their legal skills through deeply discounted subscriptions to West LegalEdcenter. With nearly 6,000 CLE programs, the WLEc library covers every practice area and its programming adapts with changes in the law.
