The Fund for Villanova Law

ONE Scholarship

Allison MacDonald VLS '10

A scholarship provides more than financial assistance for a talented student.  It often is the deciding factor that puts a Villanova legal education within reach.  It also can provide a student like Basil Joy ’13, recipient of the David E. Worby Scholarship for excellence in trial advocacy, with the confidence needed to pursue a chosen career path.

“Having funded most of my education through student loans, the scholarship I received helped immensely.  The recognition of my scholarship validated my decision to become a trial attorney.”

ONE Clinic

John Rafferty VLS '12

It doesn’t take long for a VLS student to become the primary advocate, counselor and litigator for disadvantaged clients whose basic needs are often at stake.  Working this past summer in VLS’s Farmworker Legal Aid Clinic, Alanna Kearney ’15 obtained termination of deportation proceedings for two children who fled, unaccompanied, from danger in their home countries of Guatemala and Honduras to safety in the U.S.

“I gained invaluable experience and developed real case management skills through the Clinics – all before my second year!”

ONE Professor

Professor Richard Harvey

Villanova Law professors don’t just teach the law, they shape it.  Associate Dean and Professor Michelle Madden Dempsey, who teaches and writes in the areas of criminal law, feminist lega theory, and jurisprudence, has testified before a U.S. Senate Subcommittee on the failure to report and investigate rape in the U.S. and served as a legal consultant to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Trafficking.

“I choose to teach at VLS for its strong sense of community and its mission to educate exceptional lawyers who will find a vocation in the law and pursue work of real value.”
