Matthew A. Homyk ’11 is an associate at Blank Rome LLP, where he concentrates his practice in intellectual property matters and related business issues confronting companies and individuals in many industries—including fashion, e-commerce, social networking, insurance, musical instruments and building materials. He was recently named one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2016 “40 Under 40,” which recognizes young professionals in the Greater Philadelphia region for outstanding success and contributions to their community. Homyk also teaches trademark law as an Adjunct Professor at Villanova Law and is a member of the Radnor Township Zoning Hearing Board.

Charles J. Dunlap Jr. ’75 is a Professor of the Practice of Law and the Executive Director of the Center on Law, Ethics and National Security at Duke Law. His teaching and scholarly writing focus on national security, international law, civil-military relations, cyberwar, airpower, counter-insurgency, military justice and ethical issues related to the practice of national security law. Prior to teaching, Dunlap spent more than 34 years in the Air Force as a military lawyer, during which his practice included everything from leading legal offices both in the U.S. and abroad, to serving as military judge, to participating in several operations in the Middle East and Africa.

Judge Frederick was appointed to the position of Chief Administrative Law Judge for the State of Alaska by Governor Parnell in 2014; the Office of Administrative hearings where she works hears cases in 66 different subject areas and has eleven judges based in Juneau and in Anchorage.

Over the past seven years at Skadden Arps, Mr. Larkin has represented companies and their boards in some of the largest transactions in history, including Anheuser-Busch in its $52 billion merger with InBev, and MacAndrews & Forbes in the recent groundbreaking decision from the Delaware Supreme Court that established a new standard for reviewing controlling stockholder mergers. Mr. Larkin currently concentrates his practice on corporate litigation with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, controlling stockholder going-private transactions, hostile takeovers, proxy contests and other “bet the company” disputes.

Morgan’s divisions with a career spanning investment banking, commercial banking and asset management.

Before joining Independence Blue Cross, Tufano was General Counsel of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for Governor Tom Ridge from 1995 to 1999. Tufano also serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Villanova University and is a member of Villanova Law’s Board of Consultors.

Appointed by Mayor Michael A. Nutter in January 2008, Shelley R. Smith ’89 returned to the Law Department as City Solicitor of Philadelphia after two years in private practice. From 1992 until early 2006, Smith was a trial lawyer and supervisor in the City's Law Department, having tried some of the City's most prominent legal matters to verdict, including Joseph Frazier v. City of Philadelphia, Estate of Shannon Schieber v. City of Philadelphia, and Robert Mitchell v. Mayor John F. Street.  In 2007, Smith was named a "Minority Attorney on the Verge" by Pennsylvania Law Weekly and The Legal Intelligencer, an honor given to minority attorneys who have risen to prominence and are on the verge of even greater accomplishments.

General Counsel-Commerce, Norfolk Southern

John Scheib's career in transportation law took him from Counsel to the Railroads Subcommittee in the House of Representatives to Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the U.S. Surface Transportation Board. Scheib is currently General Counsel-Commerce at Norfolk Southern, a leading transportation provider. Scheib was listed by Virginia Business as a Virginia Legal Elite for three consecutive years – 2011 through 2013.
