Lisa A. Shearman ’94 VLS, of the law firm Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin, has been elected to the Nominating Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. As a member of the Nominating Committee, Ms. Shearman will evaluate the qualifications of potential candidates for officer positions within the Bar Association. The Committee will then present its recommendations for these leadership positions to the House of Delegates.

Charles Eppolito III ’95 VLS, partner at White and Williams LLP,  has recently been selected as a co-chair to the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s 2014-15 Bar Leadership Institute (BLI).

Robert C. Gerhard, III ’98 LLM, certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, has received the Excellence in Elder Law Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Elder Law Section.

Malcolm J. Gross ’65 VLS, Partner with Gross McGinley, LLP, has authored a new book entitled Two Mayors and A Lawyer.  Gross’s book depicts the history of two powerful Mayors who thrived in Allentown during the period of the 1920s to the 1960s. 

Christopher Mattson ’72 VLS, a member of the Law Office of Barley Snyder and its Health Law and Litigation groups, has recently been honored by the Lancaster General Health Foundation for Excellent in Community Service & Volunteerism.

Lynne Gold-Bikin ’76 VLS, Partner in the Norristown office of Weber Gallagher and chair of the firm’s Family Law practice group, received the Eric Turner Memorial Award during the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s (PBA) Family Law Section Winter Meeting at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. This award honors a lawyer who is dedicated to the practice of family law and who serves as a mentor and teacher to fellow lawyers.

Joseph Britton ’82 VLS, a family law attorney with Begley, Carlin, and Mandio, LLP, has written Library of Pennsylvania Family Law Forms, 2nd Edition, published by The Legal Intelligencer.  The book serves as a comprehensive forms resource for attorneys who practice family law.

Jeffrey A. Lutsky ’82 VLS, a Managing Partner for Stradley Ronon in Philadelphia, was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia.

Kurt E. Kramer ’86 VLS was recently elected Partner at Capehart Scatchard, located in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Kramer focuses his practice in the representation of clients in business disputes arising from breaches of contract, complex financial transactions, investment fraud, real estate acquisition and development, and ownership disputes.

Thomas More Marrone ’87 VLS, has recently joined the law firm of Greenblatt, Pierce, Engle, Funt & Flores, LLC as a new Partner.  Marrone has over twenty-five years of experience as a civil litigator.

Charles F. Smith, Jr.’88 VLS, a member of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A. was a co-presenter in a seminar for business owners entitled, For Your Future: Estate Planning in a Changing Fiscal Landscape.  The seminar’s topic, “Have you planned for the inevitable,” was designed to help business owners identify strategies for meeting financial goals for their business, family and retirement.

Stephen G. Harvey ’89 VLS, entered private practice with the opening of Steve Harvey Law LLC located in Center City, Philadelphia.  Harvey focuses on trial and litigation matters concerning business disputes, banking and financial services, and government claims.

Bruce Matez ’89 VLS, a family lawyer of Borger Mertz in Cherry Hill, NJ, recently made a guest appearance on the internet/radio talk show, LUNCH WITH THE BOSS, hosted by Scott Tanker, where he discussed mediation and collaborative divorce in New Jersey.

Maria Aprile Sawczuk ’93 VLS recently joined the Wilmington, Delaware office of Goldstein & McClintock LLLP as a Partner. Sawczuk concentrates her practice in matters of corporate restructuring and bankruptcy.

Lisa A. Shearman ’94 VLS, an attorney with Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin PC, was recently awarded the Honorable Milton O. Moss Public Service Award, presented by the Montgomery Bar Foundation for her work with the Wills for Heroes Foundation as the National Affiliate Director and as a statewide Coordinator for Pennsylvania.

James D. Christon ’11 VLS joined the Concord, New Hampshire office of Preti Flaherty as an Associate. Christon focuses his practice on a wide range of matters, including corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and general business matters. 

Joseph M. Martosella, III VLS ’12, joined Wisler Pearlstine, LLP in Blue Bell as an Associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. Martosella concentrates his practice in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on construction law. 

Kevin F. Yetman ’13 VLS, joined the Boston office of Murtha Collina LLP as an Associate.  Yetman works in the firm’s Litigation Department and Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Group.

Edmund Mullin ’66 VLS, co-chair of the Real Estate and Land Use Department at Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin, has been appointed by the Court of Common Pleas of Montgomery County to be a Master for the Tax Assessment Appeal Mediation Program. The voluntary program is designed to reduce the backlog of assessment appeal cases pending before the court.

Jack E. Riley ’75 VLS, a white collar criminal defense attorney and former Assistant U.S. Attorney, has joined the firm of Conrad O’Brien as a partner. Riley will be located out of the firm’s West Chester, Pennsylvania office.

Jami Wintz McKeon ’81 VLS, partner and chair-elect at Morgan Lewis, will be the keynote speaker at the Eighth Annual Women’s Resource Center (WRC) Leadership Luncheon. The event will be held on April 11th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hyatt at the Bellevue on Broad Street in Philadelphia.

Carolyn R. Mirabile ’91 VLS, a partner at Weber Gallagher, presented a program on January 8, 2014, entitled, “Top 10 Things to Look for in a Custody Evaluation to Make your Cross Examination of the Evaluator Most Effective”  to the Montgomery Bar Association Family Law Section.

Eric H. Weitz ’91 VLS, of Messa & Associaties, has been elected as Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Philadelphia Bar Association. Weitz’ one-year term began on January 1, 2014.

Helen H. Mountain ’00 VLS, Senior Associate at Lamb McErlane, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania (APABA-PA).

Michael Cook '73 VLS, co-chair of the Health Law Practice at Liles Parker PLLC in Washington, D.C., recently served on the Transition Team for Health Care and as an advisor on health care to Governor Terry McAuliffe's campaign in Virginia.  Mr. Cook also recently served on a panel entitled In the Process of Fixing Health Care: Implementation of the Affordable Care Act, sponsored by the Administrative Law Review at the Washington School of Law at American University.

Gregory Hanscom ’08 VLS recently joined the Philadelphia office of Fisher & Phillips LLP.  Hanscom will focus his practice on all aspects of employment law, with a particular concentration in matters relating to employee defection, recruitment, trade secrets and covenants not to compete.

Edmund Mullin ’66 VLS, of Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin, PC, also a retired member of Villanova University School of Law’s Board of Consultors, recently spoke on Land Use Law at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.   Mullin also presented a seminar entitled “Understanding Land Development, Condominiums & Planned Unit Developments” at the Pennsylvania Land Title Institute.  Mullin has been included in the 2014 The Best Lawyers in America list.

Peter F. Boggia ’67 VLS, a retired Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court and currently of counsel for Kridel Law Group in New Jersey, was recently named a charter member of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. 

Honorable Arthur R. Tilson ’68 VLS will be on the judicial panel for the upcoming seminar presented by the National Business Institute entitled “As Judges See It:  Top Mistakes Attorneys Make in Civil Litigation” to be held in December at the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District.

Michael Yanoff ’74 VLS, of Friedman, Schuman, Applebaum, Nemeroff & McCaffery, PC was a keynote speaker at a National Business Institute seminar entitled “Practical Guide to Zoning and Land Use Law” held at the Sonesta Hotel Philadelphia.

Marc P. Weingarten '76 VLS, Partner at Locks Law Firm, recently presented a paper entitled “Arbitrating a Foreign Claim with an Asbestos Bankruptcy Trust – a Procedural Morass” to the International Practice Section of the American Association for Justice at its Annual Convention in San Francisco.

Dennis C. McAndrews ’78 VLS, founder and Managing Partner of McAndrews Law Offices PC,  wrote and will perform a one-man play entitled “If JFK Survived Dallas: Presidential Reflections at Age 96.”  The script presents a "what if" look at what would have happened if the assassination of President Kennedy never occurred. McAndrews will perform his play at 7 p.m. on October 21, 2013 at Conestoga High School in Berwyn as a public service event of the Foundation for Learning in Tredyffrin/Easttown.

Lynne Gold-Bikin ’76 VLS, Partner in the Norristown office of Weber Gallagher and chair of the firm’s Family Law practice group, was a presenter at the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) Ohio Chapter on October 14, 2013. The presentation entitled, "Alienation/Brainwashing/Estrangement/Disordered Attachment/Etc. - Whatever You Call It, What Can Be Done?," focused on anayses of therapeutic, legal guardian ad litem, parent coordinator and other interventions.

The panel discussed how the June 2013 revisions to the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic Manual may impact schools’ obligations to provide education-based services for students with disabilities.

Shikha Singhvi ’11 and Jane Park ’11 were featured in Lawyers of Color’s inaugural Hot List 2013 Issue, which recognizes early- to mid-career attorneys who are excelling in the legal profession. Honorees were chosen to represent six regions throughout the Continental United States and receptions were held in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. in their honor.
