Villanova's National Trial Team represents the law school in national and invitational mock trial competitions across the country. Students compete against teams from other law schools in simulated jury trials. A panel of experienced trial lawyers and judges evaluate each student's performance and often provide critiques.
Villanova teams combine a sophisticated case analysis with a highly polished performance to produce excellent results. Our team members also excel at thinking on their feet, capitalizing on opportunities that arise during trial. Working closely with professional trial attorneys, our teams learn the rigorous lessons needed for today’s trial work.
Members of the Trial Competition Team are selected by the coaching staff after auditions at the beginning of the Fall semester. All second and third year students are eligible to audition for the team. However, interested students are strongly encouraged to audition in their second year. Those selected are enrolled in Trial Practice Competition, a two credit course. Team members must also be willing and able to commit the time, energy, and hard work that it takes to compete with other national championship caliber teams.
