Daniel C. Munce

Biography

    Daniel C. Munce is an attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He is assigned to the Small Business/Self-Employed (SB/SE) Division of Chief Counsel.  As a SB/SE attorney, Mr. Munce's legal practice focuses primarily on tax controversy.  Mr. Munce represents the Internal Revenue Service before the United States Tax Court and counsels the Service on a variety of novel and complex legal issues.  Mr. Munce is also a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  This appointment authorizes Mr. Munce to represent the United States of America and its agency, the Internal Revenue Service, before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

    Before accepting the position with the Office of Chief Counsel, Mr. Munce was a Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Department of Law & Public Safety, Division of Law, Treasury Section.  While working as a Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Munce represented the New Jersey Division of Taxation primarily before the Tax Court of New Jersey.  Prior to becoming a Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Munce clerked for an Assignment Judge with the Superior Court of New Jersey.

Important:  Curriculum Changes Effective Fall 2014

Tax Research and Writing (LTX-3228)  and Law Governing Tax Practice (LTX-5000)  have been consolidated to create a new course  LTX-5005 Professional Responsibility of Tax Practitioners. This new required course will be offered for the first time in Fall 2014.  LTX-3228 and LTX-5000 will no longer be offered.  For students matriculating prior to Fall 2014: If you have already taken either LTX-3228  or LTX-5000, you are not required to take this new course.  If you have previously taken Law Governing Tax Practice, you simply select another elective course in order to meet your course requirements.
