Biography

Professor Lear is a graduate of The College of William & Mary (1988) and The George Washington University Law School (cum laude 1992), where she served as an associate on The George Washington Law Review. Following graduation, she practiced at the Washington, D.C. law firm Crowell & Moring LLP in the Government Contracts, Business Crimes, Health Care, and Litigation groups. From 1997-2007, she was a writing consultant, developing and conducting courses for attorneys, paralegals, L.L.M. candidates, business professionals, and secondary school students. Professor Lear was a Visiting Professor at Widener University Commonwealth Law School from 2008 until 2012. She then returned to GWU as a Visiting Professor for the 2012 academic year.  She has taught as an adjunct at GWU, the University of Baltimore School of Law, and Elizabethtown College. In December 2015, she became the Executive Director of LawMeets®, a legal education company that designs and administers practical, hands-on competitions for students interested in a transactional law practice. Professor Lear was the recipient of the 2010 Legal Writing Institute/Association of Legal Writing Directors/LexisNexis Legal Writing Scholarship Grant.
