Villanova University School of Law has announced the naming of its deanship position in honor of Arthur J. Kania ’56. Mr. Kania, a member of the inaugural graduating class of 1956, and his wife, Angela, have been significant benefactors to the Law School throughout its history. John Y. Lany Villalobos ’14 is the recipient of a 2014 Christine A. Brunswick Public Service Fellowship. Beginning in the fall, Villalobos will work with the Pennsylvania Farmworker Project, a division of Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA). Her fellowship project is designed to expand tax services to Spanish-speaking, low-income migrant and seasonal farmworkers in rural Pennsylvania. Read more

Richard Harvey, Jr., Distinguished Professor of Practice at Villanova University School of Law and its Graduate Tax Program, was recently quoted in The Wall Street Journal (March 30) and Reuters (March 28) about the offshore tax strategies of Caterpillar Inc., whose executives will soon testify before the US Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations on tax aspects of corporate restructurings in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Christina Cindy Gmiterek received her JD from Villanova Law School in 2003 and was an active member of the Villanova Law Review. After graduating law school, Christina joined Sidley Austin LLP in New York where she practiced corporate securities law for six years. At present, she is a Vice President at Credit Suisse in Manhattan, where she provides real time advisory support to one of the world’s largest global investment banks. Christina is a good standing member of the New York and New Jersey Bar Associations and has been recognized by clients and colleagues as a highly regarded legal analyst.

Upon graduating from Villanova Law, Captain Megan N. Schmid '11 began her first Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps assignment at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate. After two years, she was assigned to Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma, where she serves as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate. As a JAG, Megan prosecutes military members in courts-martial and civilians in federal magistrate court, and advises commanders in environmental, contract/fiscal, civil, administrative, medical and labor law.

Salman Al-Sudairi ’03 is a partner at the international law firm of Latham & Watkins LLP. He is currently the Office Managing Partner of Latham’s Riyadh office. He previously practiced in the firm’s New York office, where he was a member of the Banking and Project Finance Practice. Salman is a US and Saudi Arabian-qualified finance and corporate lawyer with a focus on sophisticated financing transactions, including leveraged financings, project financings, Islamic financings, restructurings and capital markets transactions. He also advises Saudi Arabian and international clients in complex commercial transactions in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region in a wide range of industries, including energy, retail, manufacturing, defense, telecommunications, healthcare and hospitality.
