On August 25, Dean John Gotanda accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge as part of a viral video campaign aimed at raising awareness about and donations to fund research for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease." Jane North '91 spent 23 years as a trial attorney in Philadelphia, trying products liability, construction and premises cases. She was the first female partner at Deasey, Mahoney, Valentini & North, becoming a shareholder in 2000, managing partner in 2004 and a named partner in 2007. Jane recently accepted a new appointment with Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a leading property and casualty and professional liability insurance company for niche markets, as their Sr. Vice-President of Claims, overseeing claims nationwide and reporting to the Chief Claims Officer.

Ricardo E. Cantú '12 JD, '13 LLM is currently general counsel for Torch Energy Solutions, a Houston-based retail energy broker that has developed the first website of its kind: a platform where consumers are able to name their own price for electricity. Torch Energy provides consumers with options in a utilities market, which are traditionally known for having limited options available. Ricardo is also involved with and prides himself in aiding startup companies with their organization and tax-planned growth strategies and continues to grow his estate planning practice through court appointments, private clients, and performing contract work for other estate planning attorneys.

Honorable Sheldon K. Rennie '97 is a judge in the Court of Common Pleas for New Castle County, Delaware. He was appointed by Governor Jack Markell in June of 2013 and took the bench in July, 2013. Prior to becoming a judge, Sheldon was a partner with the law firm Fox Rothschild, LLP. During that time, Sheldon represented national and international clients in the areas of Delaware corporate and business litigation and creditor’s rights. While at Villanova Law, Sheldon served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Environmental Law Journal and was also the 1995 recipient of the Louis L. Redding Fellowship.
