If you are summoned for jury duty, the University encourages your participation. As soon as you receive any summons, present a copy. You will continue to receive your regular pay for any regularly scheduled work hours during which you serve as a juror. Upon your return to work, you must provide a copy of any payments received to the Payroll Office. Payroll will then reduce your next pay by the amount you received, excluding any amount received for travel, meals, etc. For example, if you received a check for $10.50 where $9.00 was for jury duty and $1.50 was for travel, you would cash the check and send a copy detailing the payment to Payroll. Payroll would reduce your next pay by $9.00. Payments for jury duty are not subject to Federal or Social Security taxes.
If a copy detailing your payment is not presented to the Payroll office, you will not be paid for any regularly scheduled work hours during which you served as a juror.
