Professor Power is currently the headof graduate directing, and teaches Directing, Acting/Directing Styles, andundergraduate Creativity in Theatre. She was the head of graduate dramaturgyfrom 1994 to 2007, and developed two graduate courses: Performance Art andWomen and Theatre. An active professional director and dramaturg, she hasdirected at many of Philadelphia's theatres as well as at theatres inCalifornia, Italy, New York, Ireland, Belgium, and the Midwest. She served asArtistic Director of Venture Theatre, Philadelphia's professional, culturallydiverse theatre, from 1995-98, and remains committed to working across race andculture as a theatre artist and scholar. She is currently Associate ArtisticDirector of Act II Playhouse, a 130-seat professional theatre in Ambler, PA, atwhich many Villanovans obtain their first professional theatre work. She is amember of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas, the professionalservice organization for dramaturgs and other theatre practitioners andteachers, where she has presented papers on rehearsal, the revision process,non-traditional casting, and new dramaturgical models. Her professionaldirecting includes world premieres of new plays and seminal authors such asShakespeare, Caryl Churchill, Eugene O’Neill, and Anna Deavere Smith.
