Admission to the Honors Program is now tied to University admissions—students who apply by the Early Action deadline are considered for the majority of available seats in the Program. Honors reviews these students in conjunction with the Office of University Admission and extends invitations to qualified students at the same time that they are admitted to Villanova. Previously, students found out about the Honors admissions decisions in July after college decisions were made. Now, students will have more information about Honors before making their decision, and this will allow Villanova to be even more competitive with other colleges. The current Honors freshman class is the largest yet, with just over 150 students. To help students in the college decision process, Honors hosts an Afternoon with Honors event during Early Action Candidates’ Weekend for accepted students and their families. The event has proved to be a great success, drawing almost 500 people this year. Students and parents have an opportunity to learn about Honors, meet the staff and current students , and attend sample seminar classes taught by Honors faculty. The Honors Program looks forward to holding a similar event next year.
