About Girls in Mechanical Engineering Day
Girls in Mechanical Engineering Day brings Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes from grades 5 - 8 to campus for a day of hands-on engineering activities in March. Led by Dr. Amy Fleischer, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, as well as faculty and students from Mechanical Engineering, the girls earn a "fun patch" in engineering by completing four activities that mirror real engineering challenges. Through these activities, the girls learn about solar power, water distribution, biomedical engineering and aerodynamic vehicles. The event has enjoyed sponsorship support from the Air Products Foundation.
