Curriculum, Advising, and Program Planning (CAPP) is a degree evaluation tool available to all students in the College of Engineering via their MyNova/NOVASIS accounts. It offers the ability to track a student’s academic progress toward completion of his/her degree and any minors. When the CAPP compliance process is performed, it automatically takes a student’s current academic information and compares it to the requirements for the chosen degree and indicates the remaining required courses. There is also a “What-If” function that can check the student’s academic record against the requirements for a new major and highlight the remaining courses. Students should consult CAPP prior to meeting with their adviser during the pre-registration process and immediately after registering in order to insure appropriate continual progress toward completion of their degree and any minors. The CAPP should also be consulted to learn the student’s Technical Grade Point Average (TGPA), which is not reported in NOVASIS (the TGPA is unique to Engineering). The TGPA is the grade point average for all technical (any course with an engineering prefix), science, and math courses.
