You have the opportunity to take several electives within the Civil Engineering curriculum. If you select your electives wisely you can greatly enhance your educational experience here. Some students decide to pursue a minor, while others decide to take a wide variety of classes. If you are pursuing a minor, you must visit the department housing the minor to complete all of the necessary paperwork.
Humanities Elective
Students must take one course from the following list:
- Arab & Islamic Studies
- Art History (except skills courses)
- Classical Studies
- Communication (except skills courses)
- English (Literature)
- History
- Honors Program (for eligible students only)
- Humanities
- Modern Languages (except courses in native language)
- Philosophy
- Theater (except skills courses)
- Theology (2000 and above)
Courses primarily emphasizing skills (such as acting, painting, sculpting, public speaking, etc.) are not acceptable.
Social Sciences Elective
Students must take one course from the following list:
- Economics
- Geography (selected courses only)
- Peace and Justice
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Gender and Women’s Studies (selected courses only)
Courses primarily emphasizing skills (such as acting, painting, sculpting, public speaking, etc.) are not acceptable.
Theology/Philosophy Elective
Students must take one course from the following list:
- Theology (2000 and above)
- Philosophy
- Peace and Justice
- ETH 2050 - Eth Trad & Contemp Life
Upper Theology Elective
Students must take one Theology (2000 and above).
