Welcome Letter from the Department Chair

Thank you for visiting our home on the web. I hope you take some time to learn more about us and enjoy your visit here. The Chemical Engineering Department has a long history of graduating students who are well grounded in the technical fundamentals of the discipline and who also have a vast set of other skills and characteristics that employers, graduate schools, and society desire. These include an ability to communicate effectively, contribute productively on team projects and solve problems creatively as well as a commitment to developing a strong ethical framework and to serving society.

But there is something more to a Villanova chemical engineer. You are not just a number, you are a part of our family. Faculty, staff, and students all work closely together here in White Hall in the classrooms and laboratories. Our required year-long undergraduate research project, small class sizes, and all instruction by faculty help build relationships which last a lifetime. Our graduate programs are designed for full-time students who want to participate in cutting edge research as well as for those part-time students desiring to take night classes to complete their degree while practicing as a chemical engineer in industry. You can also get your BS and MS in a five-year program.

It is an exciting time to be a chemical engineer at Villanova! As you surf around, read about some of our exciting courses and research in nanomaterials, biotechnology, environmental remediation, energy and fuels, electronics manufacturing, automotive controls, and much more. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. Feel free to stop by and visit us in person soon.
