Watershed Sustainability

Description

Sustainability of our waters has always been a concern of humanity. It is the ultimate renewable resource, and is used to support life, as well as transportation and waste disposal. This program area focuses on our watersheds and rivers, covering issues ranging from water supply, stormwater management, ground water, surface water, and river hydraulics, as well as water quality issues. Utilizing and protecting our watersheds and rivers has been and continues to be a responsibility of Water Resource Engineering.

The VU stormwater curriculum is well known and has received students from small to large engineering firms and governmental engineers for over 25 years. With the DE opportunities, and increased emphasis on river protection and water sustainability, the demand is expected to increase.

Watershed Sustainability Track

Explanation of Track Curriculum

The primary goal of the graduate program is to provide advanced level courses of study in water resources engineering. The curriculum presents an engineering view of these fields, although students with science backgrounds have traditionally constituted a significant portion of the total enrollment. The minimum requirements for the track are to take either CEE 8501 and 8502 (surface water sequence) or CEE 8503 and 8507 (hydraulics sequence). The remaining courses can be selected from the list to the left.
