Courses and Thesis Requirements
Because of its multi-disciplinarity, the degree will require that all enrolled students take a core curriculum consisting of three courses in the general area of sustainability. These core courses will expose the student to the broad topic of sustainability with elements in engineering design and practice, policy, economics, societal implications, and ethics. Although the core courses may be offered within a specific department, they are available to all students pursuing the degree as their content has a wide range of applicability.
The proposed degree will require thirty (30) credits. Upon acceptance into the program, each student will be assigned an academic advisor who will assist the student in developing a program of study for the MS degree and along with the Program Coordinator, approve the plan of study. The plan of study will be composed of:

Up to three graduate courses can be taken during your senior year in a BS program in engineering. These three courses cannot meet requirements in your undergrad program if they are to be used for the MS in Sustainable Engineering Program. The MS degree must be completed in your fifth year immediately following your undergrad degree to take advantage of these courses. This option is only open to Villanova undergraduate students. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 from the above courses is required for graduation.
