May 22, 2014

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

I regret to inform you that, due to personal reasons, Jean Ann Linney, PhD, has resigned as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and will retire, effective June 2, 2014. I am grateful for the three years of leadership that Dean Linney has provided the College, its faculty and staff, and especially its students. Under her direction, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has undergone a period of transformation designed to enhance its programs and offerings, better prepare students for successful careers and graduate school experiences, enthusiastically engage alumni, and communicate proudly its role as the educational foundation for every Villanova student.

I am pleased that Adele Lindenmeyr, PhD, dean of Graduate Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has agreed to lead the College on an interim basis while a search for a new dean is conducted.

Please join me on Thursday, May 29 from 3-5 p.m. in the Presidents' Lounge of the Connelly Center for a reception to thank Dean Linney for her service and commitment to both the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Villanova University.

Sincerely,
