The Academic Year (AY) Business Minor program involves pursuit of courses through the traditional academic year. Requirements include several classes from the VSB freshman and sophomore year core curriculum; classes are taken with full-time VSB students. Students interested in the AY Minor should discuss program requirements with their primary academic advisor to determine if/how program credits may be applied to their major degree requirements and the impact, if any, on subsequent course planning and scheduling.
Students must apply for the Academic Year Business Minor and admission is competitive. To apply for the minor, students must:
- Attend a mandatory information session prior to applying

Applications are reviewed and admission decisions are made once a year, after final spring grades are posted, by the VSB Admissions/Academic Standing Committee. Students are notified of the committee’s decision in late May, at which time accepted students are provided with instructions for next steps. Course registration and schedule adjustments are made by Clay Center staff during the summer for accepted students.*
Ms. Xiao Lin, Academic Year Minor advisor in the Clay Center, will assist students with course registration and monitor course progress and business minor requirements.
* Note: Non-VSB students, including program applicants, are unable to register for VSB courses, and should register for those courses required by their primary college/degree program during the fall/spring registration period prior to admission decisions.
