The Clay Center - Student Services

Empowering Students since 2007, the Clay Center at VSB Proudly Celebrates Our 10th Anniversary!

The Clay Center at VSB is dedicated to facilitating the intellectual, professional, and personal growth of undergraduate business students by providing:

  • educational planning and academic advising;
  • experiential learning opportunities (internships and CoOps);
  • professional development programs and resources

The Clay Center at VSB provides undergraduate business students with program services to support academic, personal and professional growth. Named in honor of the late VSB Dean Emeritus Alvin A. Clay, who was a dedicated alumnus, faculty member and dean, the Clay Center supports the well-being of VSB undergraduate students, serving as a “one-stop shop” that offers personalized academic advising.

The Center houses The Charlotte and James V. O’Donnell Center for Professional Development. The O’Donnell Center offers planning, experiential learning opportunities (internships and CoOps) and professional development programs. These programs and support services help students achieve their educational goals.

Degrees, Majors & Minors

Degrees, Majors & Minors

VSB requires students to take six courses beyond the business core coursework in a specific field of study. Non-business students have the opportunity to pursue a business minor through either the Academic Year Business Minor or the Summer Business Institute (SBI).

Academic Advising

Academic Advising

The VSB Advising Team, consisting of a Clay Center professional advisor, a peer advisor and a faculty mentor works with students throughout their undergraduate years.

Curriculum, Programs and Planning

Curriculum, Programs and Planning

VSB is nationally recognized as a top business school and a pioneer of curricular innovation. Backpack to Briefcase (B2B) is an innovative initiative, integrating professional development into the core business curriculum throughout a student’s four-year academic program.

Career & Professional Development

Professional Development

VSB and the O’Donnell Center for Professional Development work together to provide a multitude of professional development activities that serve to enrich students’ academic experiences and prepare them for success in the profession of their choice.
