The MBA Fellows program is a competitive graduate assistantship program that allows students to pursue their MBA degree on a full-time basis, free of tuition charges, while obtaining paid academic research experience. Many of our past Fellows have gone on to PhD programs after their exposure and experiences at Villanova.
MBA Fellows are Flex Track students selected to assist business school faculty with their research activities during the fall and/or spring semesters. The Fellows work under the supervision of the faculty member or members to whom they are assigned. The program requires 20 hours of work per week during the fall and spring semesters.
MBA Fellows positions are renewable for up to four semesters (excluding summer) and renewal is based on performance. MBA Fellows are prohibited from engaging in additional employment, either on campus or elsewhere.
Summer positions will be granted when faculty members require research assistance during the summer. Tuition is waived for up to two courses; however, stipends are not provided during the summer.
Fellowship Schedule
Tuition waiver for one course: 9 hours per week or a total of 81 hours during the summer session.
Tuition waiver for two courses: 18 hours per week or a total of 162 hours during the summer session.
Application and Stipend
To be considered for a fall MBA Fellowship, a completed application and letters of recommendation must be received by May 31.
To be considered for a spring MBA Fellowship, a completed application and letters of recommendation must be received by November 15.
Current student Fellowship applicants must apply by March 31 for the fall semester, and September 30 for the spring semester. Applications are not considered for the summer semester.
A stipend of approximately $13,100 is provided to Fellows for the academic year. This stipend begins with the fall semester and is payable in nine monthly installments. For students who are selected for only the fall or spring semester, the stipend is reduced by 50 percent and is payable in 5 installments. In addition, a waiver of tuition and fees for a maximum of 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring) is provided.
