The JD/MBA program is a rigorous model designed exclusively for members of the Villanova Law School. The following course progression is the preferred course of study to complete both degrees in three years. Exceptions must be cleared through Christine Mooney, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Director, JD/MBA program.
The Villanova Law School requires 88 credits to receive a JD degree. All law school students are required to take:
The 1st year curriculum
Constitutional Law II
A practical writing course (such as Contract Drafting)
A research paper course
All other law school courses are electives.
The Villanova School of Business requires 48 credits to receive an MBA degree:
3.5 credits of Fundamentals
15 credits of Functional Core Courses
6 credits of VSB Pillar Courses
15 credits of Electives
4 Seminar Courses
7.5 Capstone Credits
You must complete a minimum of 39 credit hours in the Villanova MBA program. JD/MBA students can transfer 9 law school credits toward their 15-credit elective requirement. In turn, the law school accepts the following core MBA courses (12 credits) towards its degree requirements:
MBA 8150 Performance Measurement & Reporting Fundamentals
MBA 8250 Business Operations in the 21st Century
MBA 8450 Corporate Investing and Valuation
MBA 8550 Team Leadership and Group Dynamics
MBA 8650 Strategic Marketing Management
