While our academic accreditations and rankings highlight the importance of the classroom environment, our traditional Augustinian roots emphasize the importance of learning experiences beyond the classroom. Some of the events offered to EMBA students and alumni include:
Fireside Chats
Throughout the EMBA program, senior business executives meet informally with students on Friday evenings to provide their perspective on specific challenges and opportunities in their company and industry. The intimate setting is designed to encourage an open exchange of dialogue and ideas and typically offers a greater degree of frankness than is typically experienced with senior executives.
Past Fireside Chat guests have included:
- George S. Barrett, President & CEO, Teva Pharmaceuticals, USA
- Brian L. Roberts, Chairman & CEO, Comcast Corporation
- Richard Scanlon, VP of Enterprise Risk Management, Cigna Corporation
- Anne Wilms, EVP & CIO, Rohm & Haas Company
- Derek Jenkins, SVP, Target
- Bill McDermott, Co-CEO, SAP
- Angus Russell, CEO & President, Shire Pharmaceuticals
Networking & Professional Development Events
Learning doesn’t end upon graduation. We offer many opportunities to further hone your skills or explore new topics in our professional development series. Events are led by EMBA faculty, EMBA alumni, or local businesspeople and always include an opportunity to network.
Business Leaders Forum
An annual event hosted by the Villanova School of Business. EMBA alumni, along with the members of the eight advisory boards to the School, are invited to spend the day in dialogue with keynote speakers and panelists on current business topics. The event includes an opportunity to dine and network and to break into small groups to further strategize on issues related to industry, the economy, and future developments at Villanova.
Family Events
Family and significant others play an important role in an EMBA student’s success in the program. We organize various activities throughout the program to make them feel as much a part of the EMBA experience as possible. Within each module, family themed events are held providing further opportunities to get to know your classmates & their families in an informal, social setting. Past activities have included BBQs, carnival games, facepainting, balloon artists, DJs, bowling, jugglers, and more.
