Thought Leader Lecture Series: Several times each year the CBA invites forward thinking experts to discuss how they have used analytics to address the challenges around them. These lectures have included notable thought leaders such as Alicia Rankin, head of research for the NFL, Tom Davenport, author of Competing on Analytics and Analytics at Work, and William McDermott, co-CEO of SAP.
Business Practitioner Lecture Series: The CBA hosts guest speakers to present specific examples of how they have successfully applied analytics to solve business challenges.
Business Analytics Round Table: CBA faculty and professionals gather to network and share case studies and examples of best practices in how they implement analytics in their businesses and endeavors.
Internships: The CBA works with VSB’s Clay Center to provide 8 to 12-week internships for students seeking to master and gain exposure to the field of analytics. Members of the CBA Advisory Council have taken the initiative to connect students with opportunities in prestigious companies, such as SAP, AlignAlytics and Macy’s.
Consulting Projects: Students interested in business analytics have the opportunity to apply what they are learning in their courses to actual business problems. Aided by CBA mentors, these students use analytics to provide consulting services for a variety of companies. Current clients include PECO and PMI.
Professional Education: The CBA aims to help professionals develop their analytics skills through hosting educational workshops ran by well-known experts in the field of analytics
Curriculum: The CBA works to incorporate and improve analytics as a key component of the VSB undergraduate and graduate core curricula. Examples include the introduction of new courses such as Business Analytics, Strategic Data-Mining and BI and Performance Management.
Business Analytics Society (BAS): The Business Analytics Society provides a medium for students interested in analytics to come together and learn more about the field. The BAS hosts events that bring professionals from the industry to offer insight on what it takes to be successful in the field of analytics and provide unique recruiting opportunities.
Sponsorship of MIT Case Competition Team: Every year the CBA sponsors both an undergraduate and MBA team to compete at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference held in March.
