Ron Cline, Head of Customer Analytics and Market Research, Joins Center for Business Analytics Advisory Council

The Center for Business Analytics is pleased to announce the Ron Cline has accepted an invitation to join the CBA Advisory Council. Ron is currently Vice President, Head of Customer Analytics and Market Research at TD Bank, in Mount Laurel, N.J.  His current responsibilities include bridging the gaps between data, customer insights, and business strategy. Ron manages a team of analysts and advisors that work with internal partners in Marketing and across all business units supporting the targeting, design of experiment and measurement of marketing campaigns, programs and strategy.

Prior to TD Bank, Ron was a Senior Vice President at Bank of America for almost 16 years. His experience spanned across various departments including operations, marketing and risk management. In his last role, he was a Director of Quantitative Operations supporting multiple lines of business by solving large complex business problems with advanced analytical techniques.

Ron is a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. He lives in Wenonah, NJ with his wife and three children.

The CBA Advisory Council is a senior-level, invitation only forum that assists CBA leadership in connecting analytical theory to analytics practice. Advisory Council members share their insights with Villanova students, identify analytics internship and job placement opportunities, help to identify and deliver CBA managed analytics consulting projects, and provide guidance on the content of the CBA's speaker and workshop programs.

John Minalga, Chief Analytical Officer at Swift Capital, Joins Center for Business Analytics (CBA) Advisory Council

The Center for Business Analytics is pleased to announce that John Minalga, Chief Analytical Officer at Swift Capital has accepted an invitation to join the CBA Advisory Council.  Swift Capital is a leading provider of working capital for small businesses. It was recognized in 2015 and 2014 as one of the fastest growing companies in the Mid-Atlantic region by the "Philadelphia 100", a merit based listing of privately held companies. Swift Capital was also recently ranked number 64 on Inc. Magazine’s List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing privately held companies.

John joined Swift Capital in 2010 and has over 20 years of experience in marketing and risk analytics, credit risk management and operational management. Prior to Swift Capital, John worked for 10 years at Advanta Bank Corp, working his way up from Senior Business Analyst to Vice President of Credit Analytics and Credit Operations. 

John has a BA in Economics and Political Science from Rutgers University, an MBA in Finance from La Salle University, and is on track to graduate with the initial cohort of the Villanova MS Analytics program in May 2016. 

What’s the best professional sports record ever? CBA research project is subject of Wall Street Journal and Sports Illustrated articles.

Villanova analytics faculty Matt Liberatore, Bob Nydick and Bret Myers and Howard Weiss of Temple University developed an analytical model to rank professional sports records to determine the greatest records in history. Their paper "Revisiting the Ranking of Outstanding Professional Sports Records" was published in the Journal of Sports Analytics in October 2015. Since then articles about the research study have appeared in the Wall Street Journal and Sports Illustrated. Congratulations Matt, Bob, Bret and Howard!
