Most companies have massive amounts of data at their disposal, yet fail to utilize it in any meaningful way.
Powerful new business trends in technology and analytical methodologies are enabling many firms to aggressively leverage their data in key business decisions and processes, with impressive results. Rather than “going with their gut” when pricing products, maintaining inventory, or hiring talent, managers in these firms use data, analysis, and systematic reasoning that improve customer loyalty, efficiency, and profits while reducing risk.
Recognizing these trends, the Villanova School of Business established Business Analytics as a Strategic Initiative Group (SIG) of cross-disciplinary faculty in 2007 to investigate these trends by partnering with corporations, as well as inviting analytics thought leaders to campus to better understand which analytical skill sets would further distinguish our graduates in the marketplace.
Because of the success and positive feedback from these analytics initiatives, the Villanova School of Business elevated the SIG to one of six VSB Centers of Excellence. The Center for Business Analytics was established in April 2010 to serve our students, faculty, and business partners.
