Villanova’s First Year Service Learning community


The First Year Service Learning Community -LIVE Together, LEARN Together, and SERVE together.  Caritas community is one thematic section of the First Year Learning Communities of Villanova University.


The Office of Service Learning in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in cooperation with the Augustine and Culture Seminar and Student Development have created and opportunity for students to “Seek truth “veritas” about the world through knowledge, live values of “caritas” (love-charity) through service together in Community “unitas”


  • Community:  First year students will live in one residence Hall, serve and reflect with others who share the value of giving back to the community by tutoring with high school students at Cristo Rey High School once a week.
  • Pursuit of Knowledge:  Students in Caritas Community will be in one of two Augustine and Culture Seminars. 
  • Service:  All students will tutor at Cristo Rey High School once a week. 
  • To understand what we do and learn what we believe through reflection:  All students will be enrolled in an integrating seminar. (fourth hour)
